The Creator™ FAQ

Q: How do I find my room after I have created it?
A: If you have chosen to set up one room, it will appear in the Live Listing of rooms for whatever AREA you created the room in. If you have your own suite of rooms, it will appear in your customized Live List.

Q: How will my guests enter a room when it asks for a username and password?
A: Your Website should include a note to tell people they may type any username and any password to enter a room. This note should appear on any page the guest will choose a room from - ie; at the top of a Live List.

Q: I created my room, but when I left and returned the "Boot User" and "Edit Room" buttons were gone!
A: Simply Exit the room, close and re-open your browser. Select the room from the Live List, re-enter the same User Name and Password you used to first create the room when the pop up box appears, then you may enter the actual "room" with whatever Handle you want in the slot on the room entry page.

Q: How do I change my room Password or enable one?
A: Enter your room, with your proper handle and Password as stated above, then click on the "edit room" button at the top of the page.

Q: Can I use HTML to change the text on the "speak" button?
A: No, that button is part of the CGI script and cannot use HTML. It can however say whatever you want it to say in plain text.

Q: I can’t hear the sounds or see images that I try to post?
A: Sounds and images are turned off by default. There are boxes just below the message box in the Standard room, that you have to un check to see images and hear sounds. You can find these check boxes in a Real Time room by clicking on Options.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of images and/or sounds I can post in one message?
A: Yes. The maximum amount of images in one post is ten and the maximum number of sounds is one.

Q: Can I post images and or sounds from an outside source?
A: Yes. Provided that the sounds or images are uploaded to a server somewhere on the internet. Just type in the URL to the sound or image file, using the HTML code for images <IMG SRC= or for sounds <EMBED SRC=. You cannot post an image or sound directly from your hard drive.

Q: I no longer like the way my room looks, can I change it?
A: Enter your room with the proper User Name and Password as stated above, and click the button that says "Edit Room". You will be taken to the form where you first created the room and you may change any of the variables.

Q: I made an error and now there is a broken image on my room entry page, how can I fix it?
A: Enter your room with the proper User Name and Password as stated above, and click the button that says "Edit Room". Make sure the image is still on the Web by opening another browser and typing in the URL to the image you want to use. If the image is still there, copy and paste the URL into The Creator™ form.

Q: I no longer want to keep my room active, how do I delete it?
A: Enter your room with the proper User Name and Password as stated above, and click the button that says "Delete Room".

Q: I share a computer or use a public terminal, how do I prevent the next user from having access to the Admin features in my room?
A: Simply closing the browser will erase your login information.

Q: I have a question that is not covered here, how do I contact a real live person?
A: You can e-mail support@customchat.com or if you need immediate assistance you can ICQ at 12964510.
